Exploring Newport State Park

3 Oct

On the first full day of our trip, Jason and I decided to drive to the northern tip of the Door County peninsula to visit Newport State Park. This would add another state park to our list of parks visited.

Welcome to Newport State Park
Our newest Explored addition.

We took a nice long hike, perfect for wearing Bailey out 🙂 . It was a great trail, and it felt much longer than the 2.2 miles indicated by the park map.

Final Stretch of the Lynd Trail
The final stretch of our hike.

As an added bonus, we were able to assess the camping situation at the park. Newport has 16 backpack campsites. We found two of them along the trail we were on, but we didn’t explore them much. IF…and that’s a big IF…we were to try backpacking JUST Jason and I, this would be the location of our first attempt.
